Notice:

The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council investigates and prosecutes professional misconduct committed by marriage and family therapists, professional counselors, psychologists, psychological associates, social workers, and licensed specialists in school psychology. Although not every complaint against or dispute with a licensee involves professional misconduct, the Executive Council will provide you with information about how to file a complaint. Please call 1-800-821-3205 for more information. To report violations to the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council, you may use the following contact information: Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council 333 Guadalupe St, Tower 3, Room 900 Austin, Texas 78701 (512) 305-7700.

Mental health records for HIPPA-compliance:

- for ‘direct-pay or private pay’ or EAP clients: records will be released only to the client or to the PARENTS OR GUARDIANS if the client is a minor with a signed Release of Information on file depicting with whom the records will be shared. Under no circumstances will the MHP release any records to a third party even with permission from the client.

- for clients who receive care with use of their insurance benefits: requests for records are made directly by the client directly to the ‘Broker’s Custodial of Records.’ Brokers are the companies or employers who have pre-established relationships with insurance companies where the MHP accepts the client’s insurance and provides care via the Broker who files claims and house records based on claims filed.
